LET EVERYONE KNOW: spread the word that you are taking part in Meat Free Week with family and friends whether that be face-to-face, via email, online or over the phone, chat to your work colleagues, get something included in your club/group newsletter, encourage as many people as possible to take the challenge with you.
ADD INFO: did you know fundraisers that customise their fundraising page by adding a photo/video or updating their blog raise more funds. Why not share photos of the meat free dishes you are eating for each of the seven days. So what are you waiting for? Update your fundraising page by clicking here.
BE SOCIAL: post your fundraiser details on your social media pages. Remember to include the campaign hashtag #MeatFreeWeek to tag @MeatFreeWeek on Facebook, @MeatFreeWeekOrg on Twitter or @MeatFreeWeek on Instagram into all your posts so that we can share/re-tweet.
CREATE: make a poster or flyer about your fundraising and distribute them around your workplace or local community (be sure to receive the appropriate charity/company/council approvals first). Free poster templates are available for download from the Meat Free Week website.
WORK IT: ask your HR department if they can put a posting about your fundraising on the company intranet or in the company newsletter. Investigate if your employer matches charity donations (many large and/or community conscious organisations do). Hold a Meat Free Week luncheon or morning tea at your workplace – to help we’ve created an event poster that you can download from the Meat Free Week Resources webpage and some extra tips on hosting.
PROMOTE: contact your local newspaper to see if they will feature your story and fundraising efforts in the next edition.
BREAK IT DOWN: break your fundraising down into achievable bite-sized chunks. For example: sponsorship from your family - $200, vegetarian dinner with friends - $200, morning tea at work - $100. $500 reached!
FOLLOW UP: keep those reminders coming, follow people up and provide regular updates on how your fundraising is going.
GIVE THANKS: be sure to thank all your donors and sponsors, tell them why their support is so important and how their donation will help.
ENCOURAGE INVOLVEMENT: invite family and friends to get involved by signing up to take part in the Meat Free Week challenge or encourage them to sponsor someone who is taking part.
HAVE FUN: big or small it is up to you, every little bit helps. The main thing is to have fun doing it and support a cause close to your heart.
START LOCAL: your local community will usually be the ones to support you most. Start with local shops and businesses when it comes to asking for donations and support.
BE ORGANISED: the key to successful fundraising is being organised! It’s a great idea to plan your meals for each of the seven days before Meat Free Week commences. It will make it so much easier (and more fun) to stick to your resolve. Get some inspiration from our recipe page by clicking here.
